The member of the\nCommittee are elected in a secret ballot from among all independent researchers\n(PhD and professors) working at universities and at the Institute of Philosophy\nand Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The Committee is also composed\nof correspondent and actual members of the Polish Academy of Sciences who are\nsociologists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee\u2019s\nactivities include various forms of scientific and organisational activity. The\nCommittee\u2019s tasks include the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Analysing and\nassessing the state of science, speaking out on the Polish scientific policy,\nespecially on the directions of development and research priorities in the\nfield of social sciences, primarily in sociology.<\/li><li>Initiating\nsociological research and disseminating its results by organising scientific\ndiscussions and conferences.<\/li><li>Developing\nscientific opinions and expertises on topics within the scope of the\nCommittee&#8217;s activities, including issues important for the social, economic and\ncultural development of Poland.<\/li><li>Managing\npublishing activities, including participation in publishing \u201cSociological\nStudies\u201d and \u201cCulture and Society\u201d journals, as well as providing substantive\nsupport to other magazines dealing with sociological issues. <\/li><li>Analysing and\nevaluating curricula, addressing issues related to the education of scientific\nstaff, and carrying out activities stimulating participation in the Polish\nscientific life and ensuring the development of young scholars in the field of\nsociology.<\/li><li>Initiating and\nconducting cooperation with international and foreign scientific organisations\nand centres.<\/li><li>Providing\nopinions on candidates for correspondent members of the Polish Academy of\nScience in the field of sociology. <\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Committee on Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences, was established in 1969 and since its beginning has been representing the sociological academic circles.
